CDC Federal Credit Union ($143M, Atlanta GA) and Kessler Financial Services (KFS) have recently announced that CDC FCU and MBNA will join forces to create a new credit card offering to the credit unions membership.

Established in 1949, CDC FCU serves 15,127 members, many of whom are employed by the Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a US Government agency. CDC FCU also serves over 180 Select Employee Groups (SEG's). They operate 4 branches and a call center in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

"We serve a unique membership. Many are doctors, scientists, or work in related fields. They look to their credit union for quality financial products, and expect us to deliver superior service. Throughout our history, CDC FCU has excelled in other products, and we wanted a credit card program to reflect the same level of excellence. We wanted to offer a rewards program and other benefits our members want and deserve", commented Betsy Mercier, President of CDC FCU.

When the KFS team learned of the demands that the members of CDC FCU would place on a new partnership, they recommended MBNA. For one thing, MBNA offers credit unions a world-class travel/merchandise rewards program.

"We worked with KFS to make the financial aspects of the partnership work for both sides. The relationship with KFS allowed us (CDC FCU) to negotiate through a third party. In the end, this was a win-win for us and MBNA. We are truly excited about this new program," says Joseph Beckner, Senior Vice President.

Mercier adds, "With MBNA's 20-years of success in working with membership organizations, a strong financial offer and superior products and service, the choice was easy. MBNA offered the best products and services for our members."

PGA CU Scores A 'Hole In One' With MBNA
The Professional Golfers Association of America Credit Union (PGA CU, $20.5M in assets) and Kessler Financial Services (KFS) have announced that PGA CU has partnered with MBNA.

PGA CU's field of membership consists of the 26,000 members of the PGA. Working together, PGA CU and MBNA developed a unique product that returns a portion of the revenue generated from the program into each member's 401k account. Now, when a member uses the card, they are actually funding their 401k! "This is another example of how MBNA's dedicated credit union sector works with credit unions to ensure creative structuring that puts the member first," said Steven Fuld, Senior Vice President of KFS.

"We met with the people at KFS, and over a matter of a few weeks created a structure that worked for the PGA CU and MBNA. Our members are now receiving the best credit card program available today," added PGA CU's President, Dolly Champey.

Established in 1991 PGA CU was formed to provide financial services to members of the Professional Golfers Association, members of their staff, employees and their family members. The credit union serves 5,225 members and is located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

For two decades, Kessler Financial Services has been building relationships between membership organizations and financial providers like MBNA. The result is a credit card that benefits the member and the partners every time it is used. KFS has helped generate over 25 million credit card accounts and set-up hundreds of partnerships with credit unions and other financial institutions. To learn more about KFS, visit www.kessler.com.

  • I am very unhappy to learn that my credit union is partnering with MBA. I strongly request (as do other credit union members) that this no happen. I am very comfortable in dealing with and have been very pleased with the services of the cdc credit union. I don't understand why this is necessary.
