April 22, 2010, is Earth Day – and an opportunity. Americans are becoming increasingly aware of environmentally-friendly practices. As more people adopt eco-friendly practices, they look to the businesses they frequent to have a similar mindset. Credit unions across the country use the Earth Day holiday to show their members how they are taking the lead on this important issue in their community.
With a little more than a month to go, there is still enough time to develop your own 2010 Earth Day message. And thanks our sponsors, eDoc and OMI, we are able to offer this CUtv event to you at no charge!
Go Green: Protect the Environment & Your Bottom Line will feature some of the ways that credit unions showcase their earth-friendly (and wallet-friendly) products and services.
Here are just a few examples:
- With their technology background, it’s not surprising that Addison Avenue Federal Credit Union, has been at the forefront of green lending movement. Last year, members signed up via FaceBook to attend Earth Day celebration events to learn about hybrid car loans, sun power, and even more energy efficient window coverings! Now you can get a sneak peek at Addison Avenue’s ground-breaking solar lending program!
- Gesa Credit Union has expanded to a month-long celebration, as Earth Day coincides with the opening of their second LEED Green Building Council-certified facility. Members can sign up for a variety of “Lunch & Learn” workshops while taking in a state of the art facility featuring sustainable building materials, energy efficient heating & lighting systems, and even electric-car charging stations in the parking lots! Learn more about the creation of this facility as well as their new headquarters – and how members are reacting and responding to the changes.
These are just a couple of the ways that credit unions across the country are leveraging their initiatives with the upcoming Earth Day event to reach out to even more members. In today’s economic environment, it’s more important than ever for your organization to carve out an identity in line with member concerns.
With Earth Day just around the corner, there is still plenty of time to raise your credit union’s “green” profile. Register for this complimentary event to learn strategies for getting started!
