Which state had the highest average credit score at the end of 2011?

By Andrew Bolton

According to Experian, at the end of 2011 (the latest date for which data is available), Minnesota residents had the highest average credit score. They ranked 31 points above the national average of 687. Many states in the Midwest and Northeast reported above average credit scores, while states in the south were mainly below the national average. While credit unions are typically more willing to work with a member despite their credit score than other financial institutions, these scores are still important in determining the interest rate of a loan.
