The production of Credit Union Strategy & Performance is partially underwritten by our sponsor:

In one from or another, Callahan & Associates has provided credit unions with market share and analysis for almost 20 years. Callahan originally published the guide as the Data Processing Market Share Survey—back when data was harder to come by and the pace of technology change was glacial, at least compared to today.

Over the years, as the tentacles of technology expanded into all areas of a credit union’s operations, we’ve expanded our coverage to also include internet technologies, member service networks and payments. And as the pace of change accelerates, so too must our publishing.

Starting this quarter, we will publish the guide under the name Technology@CU and include it as a technology and operations supplement to Credit Union Strategy & Performance (CUSP). This new format allows us to cover topics in a more timely fashion and provide information to a wider audience of credit union executives—5,000 strong and counting!

Coming soon in the 3Q issue of CUSP (late December release) :

  • NEW! Quarterly Technology Guide Supplement: CUSP subscribers will now also receive a quarterly Technology@CU supplement every quarter, replacing Callahan’s annual Technology Guide for Credit Unions publication. This supplement contains a combination of externally submitted content and our own analysis of market share, trends, and case studies affecting credit unions. The 3Q issue will focus on branching, call centers, and self-service technologies

  • NEW! CUSO Strategies: CUSP will now feature CUSO strategies that were previously published in our semi-annual CUSO Guide. The upcoming issue features an article by NACUSO General Council Member Guy A. Messick discussing the opportunity in networked business models

  • Performance Insight (in every issue!): Learn why the credit union model is working with an in-depth analysis of third quarter performance data and Goldman Sachs’ comprehensive U.S. economic outlook

  • Financial Literacy & Counseling: Learn how credit unions are helping members navigate through
today’s economic environment- from elementary school to the retirement years, and everything in between

  • Deposit Strategies: Credit unions saw record share growth in 2009. As the markets stabilize, we need to be thinking ahead about how to sustain this growth momentum by offering a range of share accounts to fit multiple needs. These include HSAs, IRA/Keoghs, and e-accounts

  • Leadership Perspectives (in every issue!): This quarter, CEOs weigh in on our industry’s response to the makeover of America’s financial system. They answer questions such as: Who should be involved? What intensity? What positions should we be taking? And more!

CUSP Online includes both 5 financial scorecards to benchmark your credit union’s performance, as well as PDF versions of all back issues.

“My board enjoys peer comparisons. With CUSP Online I can select the comparisons I wish to make, and then select credit unions that most closely mirror ours and produce board meeting ready reports. At a glance, I can tell where our strengths and weaknesses lie; if I see another credit union on my report that out performs us in a specific area, I know who they are and can contact the CEO with questions on their accomplishments.”

“I really like the ease of getting comparable information on the site. It is quick and very easy. I have been able to use CUSP Online at least 3 times in the first week of signing up in order to validate information that was given in a meeting or to compliment arguments.”

2. Consolidate or Build Alliances: Either Way, Be Good at What You Choose

Here’s how one subscriber uses CUSP :

“From CUSP I liked the Industry Performance, Business Models and hearing stories from some top minds in our industry to how they approach a new year for advancement and growth.
