Corporate Credit Union Assets Reach New High

Corporate credit unions continue to provide a valuable service to the credit union industry. This on-going effort enables credit unions to increase liquidity and loans, reduce operating costs and makes available a large variety of products and services.

 
 
Corporate credit unions continue to provide valuable service to the credit union industry. This on-going effort enabled credit union movement to increase liquidity, loans, reduce operating cost and to make available to themselves a greater variety of products and services that wouldn't be available without the corporate system.

The natural person credit unions commitment to corporates is reflected in the continued growth of corporates credit unions over the last fourteen years. Between January 1987 and March 2001, the assets of corporates have increased 262%. For comparison, natural person credit unions have grown 165% during the same time period. As reflected in the following graph, corporates combined assets is valued at $59.8 billion ended March 2001, the highest level ever.

The ongoing investments by natural person credit unions has also enabled more than a fourteen corporate credit unions to reach more the $1 Billion in assets (see second chart) with Western Corporate reached assets of $16 Billion ended March 2001.
