Some writers have labeled the current economic conditions of low
inflation, low interest rates, slow growth and volatile markets,
a "going nowhere" economy. But that is certainly not the
case for America's credit unions.
Credit unions at June 30, 2002, continue to show very high share
growth, sound loan quality and increased earnings versus the same
period one-year earlier.
The numbers are exceptional for the 10,030 total credit unions
(both federally and privately insured) holding $548 billion in assets.
