Data Trends - So What Does All This Mean?

There were 10,201 credit unions active at the end of 2002. The Top 100 by assets hold a combined $154.3 billion or roughly 30% of all credit union industry assets. 56 of these top 100 each command over $1 billion in assets. So what does all this mean? Do these asset size leaders show any significant advantages compared to their smaller brethren? Does size really matter?
