The December 2000 NCUA call report asked about home banking usage for the first time. Over 1,450 credit unions completed information for the number of home banking users. However not all of the data appears to be accurate. For example a number of credit unions said 100% of their members used their Internet banking solution.

Looking at the data reported by the largest credit unions generally provides greater consistency. Listed below are the ten credit unions over $1billion in assets which report the highest percentage of member home-banking usage. Three of the top four are with credit unions serving international organizations and the fourth is a high tech field of membership.

Several more credit unions on the list have been very active in seeking out new technology: Patelco and State Employees in Pennsylvania. Finally Navy FCU reports over 25% of its members now use Internet home banking, a fact probably in part due to Navy's world wide membership.

The table below is sorted by the highest percentage of members using home banking. Other columns provide other measures of member product usage. For complete details of how any credit union completed this part of the call report, please click through to our cusearch channel.
