Community Credit Union on the other had has been developing its community charter for almost two decades. Coast FCU was formerly sponsored by IBM. As IBM went through its downsizing in the early 1990's, the credit union converted to a multi-seg field of membership.

Still at the top of the billion $ ranking is Navy FCU with $14.5 billion in assets. State Employees in North Carolina is in second place with $7.8 billion.
