What new technologies are credit unions adding to their branches?

As members become increasingly tech-savvy, credit unions are updating the technology in their branches in 2013 to keep up with the changing tides. According to Callahan & Associates’ annual technology survey, nearly 30% of the credit union respondents planned on adding a cash only, wholly-owned ATM to their branch network. Full service ATMs came in second, with about 22% of credit unions indicating that they were adding this technology for their members.

Coin counters and coin recyclers were on many credit unions’ radars in 2013. These devices can help drive foot traffic into a branch, which can help to deepen relationships with members who otherwise might only utilize mobile banking. About 15% of credit unions planned to add a coin counter, with another 17% looking into coin recyclers.
