Which asset-based peer group posted the highest 1-year shares growth?

 
 

As of March 2013, every asset-based peer group except credit unions with less than $2M in assets posted growth in shares from March 2012. Credit unions with over $1B in assets reported 6.50% shares growth over the past year, which was the highest annual growth among all peers. The total shares of credit unions with less than $2M in assets decreased by -1.47% from the year prior.

The industry average for 1-year shares growth in the first quarter was 5.61%, down from 7.34% in the first quarter of last year. All asset-based peer groups saw slower shares growth compared to last year, but the amount of total shares has been trending up consistently for the past 5 years. The total amount of shares outstanding at credit unions as of March 2013 was $922.1 billion, up from $872.6 billion in the same quarter last year.
