Which state led the way in share draft penetration as of second quarter?


The credit union industry posted a 1.5-percentage-point increase in share draft penetration over the past year to reach 52.07% as of June 2013. The 6.0 percent growth in the total number of share draft accounts at credit unions outpaced the annual membership growth, which raised the industry’s share draft penetration rate.

As of June 2013, Florida was the leading state in share draft penetration. Credit unions in Florida reported 65.65% in share draft penetration on average as of June 2013, up 2.1 percentage points from a year ago. Washington came in second with 62.14% of total members at Washington credit unions holding share draft accounts at the credit unions. Delaware saw the largest annual increase with its share draft penetration increasing by 454 basis points from the previous June.
