The 2015 CreditUnions.com Guide To Eating In Chinatown

Looking for a tasty meal while in town for the GAC? Then step out of the convention hall and head to these nearby restaurants.

Next Sunday, credit union leaders and advocates will arrive in Washington, DC, by air, car, train, and more to hike the hill and attend CUNA's annual Governmental Affairs Conference. All that cooperative advocacy is sure to build an appetite, so CreditUnions.com has three superb dining recommendations for various establishments and cuisines, all within easy walking distance of the convention center.

SUNdeVICH

Located just north of the convention center at 1314 9th St. NW, this little local joint offers tasty, globally inspired sandwiches perfect for a filling lunch. Callahan employee favorites include the Kingston, which features jerk chicken, and the Havana — SUNdeVICH’s take on a Cuban sandwich. Be sure you look closely: a sign will point you to its location slightly down an alley!

Matchbox

A DC institution for a decade, Matchbox is a great place to get handmade brick oven pizza. Tasty pizza selections include the sweet and savory Prosciutto & Black Mission Fig pie as well as a Chicken Pesto pie. If you’re not in the mood for pizza, Matchbox also has a variety of American fare on the menu. Matchbox is just a few minutes south of the convention center at 713 H St. NW.

Rasika

The head chef of this modern Indian joint at 633 D St. NW won the 2014 James Beard Award — often called “The Oscars of Food” — for Best Mid-Atlantic Chef. And it's no wonder. Rasika offers some of the best Indian food you might ever eat in the western hemisphere. Book a reservation as quickly as possible, as this is a favorite of DC foodies.
